What kind of AppleCare+ plan do you have? The only plan that would handle a device dropped into a lake (and not fished out) is the Theft and Loss plan that costs more on top of the regular AppleCare+.

If you could retrieve it, then normal AppleCare+ would cover the replacement of a destroyed iPhone, but the damaged device would need to be physically handed over, along with a deductible.

I've never done this so I apologize in advance if this doesn't help!

  1. Go to Contact Apple Support
  2. Sign-in (if needed)
  3. Click on "Choose a Product" under "View Your Products"
  4. Under "My Devices" find your iPhone and click on it
  5. For "What's Going On", click on "Repairs & Physical Damage"
  6. There is a section there where you can describe the problem in your own words (i.e. I lost my phone at the bottom of a lake. I have AppleCare and need to setup a new device).

You can also try calling 1-800-APLCARE for more support and see if they can help setup an appointment.

I'm confused by your question.

If you need to mark your previous iPhone as stolen, you can access https://www.icloud.com/find/ or open the Find My app from any of your other Apple devices.

If you've opened Find My from the link above, you can click "All Devices" at the top and then click on your iPhone. Once you've clicked on the right device you can click "Lost Mode"

On macOS, you'd open the Find My app, click "Devices" at the top of the application, and then right click the iPhone you lost. A menu will appear and you'll want to click on "Mark as Lost..."
