I've gotten the distinct impression that my iPhone SE photos are coming out a little vertically stretched, in that they seem a little less wide than they should be. That is, a square comes out looking a bit rectangularish. Is there some adjustment for this effect? Given that the aspect ratios ought to be set by the camera chip, and pixels ought to be square, I find this a little hard to believe, but ...

Well, geez. I just took a back picture of a perfect square, and measuring it on the screen, it's a perfect square. So there is no distortion after all. I could swear that photos of people look thin. I guess that's a complement?

Yes, this is using the Photo option on the iPhone camera app, and I really noticed it when doing selfies (i.e. back camera). We're talking iOS 15.5. But maybe I'm just imagining this? I should add that I'm viewing these jpegs in Preview where I have Prefs set to make one image pixel = 1 screen pixel.
