Apple Remote controlling Yamaha Sound Bar

I've been successful setting my Apple TV remote to control the volume and mute on my Yamaha Sound Bar, but I've been unable to set it to turn the Sound Bar on and off. Any thoughts?

Apple TV Remote Controls Soundbar Volume but won’t turn on/off My Apple TV remote successfully controls my volume on a Samsung Soundbar via IR (learned remote pairing) but it won’t turn the Soundbar on/off. It used to do this but for some reason I can’t get it to work anymore. The Soundbar is connected to the TV via Optical cable (HDMI from Apple TV to TV)

Apple TV 4K remote not powering on / off connected Bose Soundbar We recently upgraded to the Apple TV 4K and successfully setup the Bose Soundbar for volume control, but the new silver Apple TV remote does not power on / off the Soundbar whereas our older Apple TV remote did. What am I missing?

Is your soundbar connect with HDMI or optical or other?

Through HDMI-CEC, supported HDMI-connected devices may go to sleep mode when the other devices do that as well. That wouldn’t work through other connections.
