Smoothing effect on 2021 M1 Pro Macbook is a problem Apple needs to address

There are countless posts online of people complaining about the face smoothing effect that occurs due to the recent Macbook Pros' webcam noise reduction. Official responses mistakenly claim the problem and solution are in third party apps, but this issue is native to the Macbooks themselves, and the solution needs to come in an update from Apple. Please give us the option to adjust the noise reduction in the webcam. This is really unacceptable for the price I paid for this computer, as it looks absolutely terrible in Skype, despite using a very decent lighting setup. Please fix this already!!!

Airing your issue here won't get Apple's attention. The folks at Apple you might hope would read these threads aren't and don't participate here. Use the Feedback link ku4hx provided above as the only sure what for your to be heard by anyone at Apple.

Any other advice offered here by users is meant in the best of helpfulness. But we don't work for, nor have any insight into Apple hardware or software behind the hardware than you do.

Understood, but your team has consistently given people unhelpful and misinformed suggestions on this issue, seemingly deflecting from the fact this is an Apple problem. And let's be serious, how is some phone support person going to help with this issue? Rather, I think it's better for it to be aired out here for all to see, to hopefully pressure apple to actually fix this problem it has so far apparently been ignoring, as complaints have been happening since the release of the systems with these upgraded webcams.

Thanks for clarifying that. I apologize for mistaking the nature of this official discussion forum, though that doesn't make me feel any better about people raising this issue here and being consistently told to adjust third party app settings. That deserves commenting on in and of itself. Like I said, it's worth airing this issue out in public as much as possible to pressure Apple to recognize it, and calling support will likely be a waste of time, for me and anyone else concerned with this ongoing issue.

Fine, but at the same time this issue has been raised here and people have been consistently told to adjust their third party app settings. That's extremely frustrating, and gives the wrong impression about this issue. Even if Apple doesn't see this - and in all truth the fact is they must already be aware of this issue - the people here who have been giving that wrongheaded and frustrating advice need to hear this.
