error code-36

A couple of days ago, I was trying to copy a folder from my Mac computer onto an external hard drive. While copying the folder, a message popped up saying "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in" "can't be read or written (Error code-36)." This "Error code-36" would pop up repeatedly for every folder I tried to copy, whether it was from my documents, iCloud, or desktop. The only thing that was left unaffected by "Error code-36" was my external hard drive. I began researching "Error code-36" online and tried solutions such as "dot_clean" or "disk utilities first aid." Unfortunately, nothing I've tried has solved the problem. The error code doesn't pop up as often, but none of the folders I copy on my computer finish the process. Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

there are alternative suggestions here— I would not install any Antivirus this is know to cause nothing but issues.

You can try a safeboot—

SafeBoot https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262 will sort many anomalies

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

In Safe mode third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled, it removes malware, etc impacting the smooth operation, however a reboot will put it back to normal mode.

This test will tell you if third party interference; extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.
