IPAD Pro M1 and SSD ext drive

I want to install something like the Superdrive to my new IPadPro MI. (#7 iPad for working journalist.)

I am told cannot use Brand new Superdrive🙄.

Can I connect other manufacturers' SSD devices to the IPAD PRO? I need to be able to store, send and retrieve materials between devices, other than Apple Sandbox. Need something more than a thumb drive, and as sturdy as SSD/

I have an Anker power bank with 7 types of access ports, including everything from Ethernet to HDMI.

Thanks. Also have Gulloe TypeC to USB B which connects to Gulloe USB b to Lightning should I need it.
