I connect my iPhone SE(2020) (iOS 15.5) to my 2015 MacBook Air (Catalina 10.15.7) and back it up in the finder. When finished I click the Eject button but nothing happens. I can unplug the phone with, apparently, no problem but it still shows in the hard drive sidebar. How do I eject it?

OK, I am replying to my own question here. I have seen this asked before with many "me too" responses, but no definitive answers. Maybe I missed them, it's possible. Anyway, I am posting the answer (at least what worked for me).
2 things worked. One was to unplug the phone and restart the Mac, the other was to logout, unplug the phone, then log back in.
