Mac laptop M1 compatibility

Why is Apple switching only to the M1? Our software is not and will not be compatible for quite a while if ever. We have to switch to Intel based computers. Why would Apple do that & risk losing customers?

thanks, but our software needs to be changed to be compatible. The developer does not plan to do so at this time. I'm hoping they will soon. It's just too bad that we can't use Macs any longer.
