Magic Keyboard Typing Lag and Discharge Quick

I have an iMac that is a little over a year old running Monterey. Last year I noticed that on the magic keyboard, when I would type, the response on screen was lagging behind my key strokes. I exchanged the keyboard for a new one. It worked for a while but it has come back and will not go away. I have also seen that the keyboard is losing its charge very quickly, even though I have not been using it.

I am currently using a Logitech bluetooth keyboard that works fine.

Any thoughts on what this is?
