Bizarre microphone inconsistencies across various apps

Hi guys. My phone is the 12 Pro Max on iOS 15.5 (latest version). Recently, I noticed my "Hey Siri" voice response not working (but all Siri functions are turned on in the settings) so I decided to troubleshoot with various other microphone features across multiple apps. Here is what I've found:

Areas where the microphone does work and can pick up my voice

• Front and back video recording through the Camera app
• Phone calls
• iMessage audio messages

Areas where the microphone does not work and cannot pick up any sound input

• "Hey Siri" function
• All speech to text functions on all apps
• Snapchat and Instagram (front and back camera) videos
• Voice Memo app
• WeChat audio message

If I put on my air pod pros, all microphone inputs work flawlessly (speech to text, hey Siri, etc). Because of this I had feared that something in my mic hardware might be busted but that doesn't make sense because I can still do things like talk on calls right? I also know that the iphone has 3 different mics placed around the phone.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
