Hello, please help me understand the optimal way to complete a backup on a MacBook. It indicates you can sync wirelessly but I have been unable to get that to work. Once I unplug the cable from the phone and the computer the phone disappears. The speed at which it will back up is too slow for me would prefer using Wi-Fi as it should run a lot faster. Thank you

Please connect the iPhone again using the cable so that your iPhone settings appear on the screen normally.
Scroll down to the bottom of the window to see some additional options. One of them is labeled "Show IPhone when on WiFi". Make sure that you have a check mark in the box there.
Close the windows and restart the Mac. See if the iPhone can communicate over WiFi now without using the cable.
WiFi may.....or may not be faster. The cable is much faster on my iPhone and Mac. Far fewer chances of errors over a wired connection as well.
