Installing a disk to install macOS Monterey

I was trying to install macOS Monterey and it told me to select the disk I want to use to install Monterey but it says “You may not install to this volume because your home directory is in an incompatible location. Please log in to another user to change its location”.

You can't install the OS onto the drive you're operating from.


You'll need to start from a bootable flash drive that contains the OS: How to create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support
