If I delete music from my MacBook Air, will that also delete it from iCloud?

I have uploaded all the music files from my MacBook Air to iCloud. If I delete one or more songs from my MacBook Air, will they also be delete it from iCloud?

Delete songs from iTunes library Hi just signed up for iTunes Match running a MacBook Pro 2015 as my main source of music. Its gone through all the initial matching process and completed the uploads. When it comes to deleting songs from iTunes though the only option that comes up is to to delete from iCloud library and all my other devices. I don’t want to do that. Just remove local songs from the MacBook and associated iTunes library and leave them in the cloud. Tried option delete and the only options is still to delete from iCloud library. Any ideas?

iCloud Library & iTunes Match Active, Deleting physical songs? Hi Community, just a quick question I have Apple Music & iTunes Match subscription but I have around 900gb of music sitting on my hard drive now is it ok to delete the physical files off my computer as to me in theory they are in the cloud the songs shouldn't leave the library unless I delete them in the music app itself any help or clarification would help alot just don't wanna delete all the folders and then the are gone from my library forever thats a lot of years of ripping and downloading haha Thanks Barry

Should music ripped from CDs appear on all my devices in the Music app? I'm busy copying my CD collection into the Music app on my MacBook. But when I open the Music app on my iPhone the albums from my CDs are not listed. Should they be? I assumed music on one device would automatically get synched via iCloud to all devices. If I wanted to synch these albums across all my devices, how would I do this? And then where would the music files live: on my MacBook hard-drive AND on my iCloud storage, or just on my iCloud storage? I'm unsure, but I think I would rather the files take up space on my iCloud, than on my MacBook hard-drive - is there a way to get the files to only live on iCloud? Thanks!

If you have Apple Music or iTunes Match there should be a right-click option to Remove Download, freeing up local storage while leaving the track in your iCloud Music Library from where it can be streamed. I would recommend backing up your original copies to an external drive before doing this, so that if you later delete the version from iCloud Music Library in error you would have an option to restore from your backup.

If you use iTunes Match or subscribe to Apple Music, changes you make will reflect on all devices.
