Add and Share Subscription URL to iCloud Calendar

Does iCloud Calendar support subscriptions and then share the subscription using iCloud Family Sharing?

For example, this URL points to the schedule for Homecoming activities; there are entries on October 3 and 8:

srv2-advancedview.rschooltoday.com/public/conference/ical/u/3d5dd198e4f26d730cdc2e21a75834dd

Two Questions:

  1. Is there a way for an iCloud Calendar to subscribe to this URL? (You can do so on macOS Calendar, but I can’t see any way for an iCloud Calendar to add a subscription.)
  2. Assuming it is possible for iCloud Calendar add subscriptions, can the resulting iCloud Calendar then be shared to members of iCloud Family Sharing?

My goal is to find the easiest way to add multiple calendar subscriptions to each family member’s iOS calendar.

Yes, of course, I could email all the URLs to each of them, and then they could each go through the tedium subscribing to each URL at:

Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar

I think that it would be a lot easier (and less error-prone) if I were to add the subscriptions to our iCloud Family Sharing Calendar and then invite each of them to join.

Other suggestions?

Hey there, Nello Lucchesi.

According to Use iCloud calendar subscriptions,

Before you can see a calendar subscription on all your devices, subscribe to the calendar on your Mac first. If you subscribe to the calendar on your iOS device, iCloud won't update it to your other devices.

Once the calendar subscription is on your Mac, you can then follow the steps in the "Add your existing calendar subscription to iCloud" section to complete that. As far as Family Sharing goes, you can follow the below steps in the "Share a read-only calendar with anyone" section of Share iCloud calendars on iPhone to then share some shared calendars with others within the Family Sharing group.

  1. Tap Calendars, then tap the Info button next to the iCloud calendar you want to share.
  2. Turn on Public Calendar, then tap Share Link to copy or send the URL for your calendar.
  3. Choose a method for sending the URL—Messages, Mail, and so on.

Anyone you send the URL to can use it to subscribe to the calendar using a compatible app, such as Calendar for macOS.

If you'd like to see changes made to this potentially in a future release, providing Product Feedback is a great way to let your option be heard.

Take care.
