To update my ipad

If you have an iPad which is still on iOS 10, you have an iPad 4, which is now obsolete and cannot be updated past iOS 10.3.x. It's time to retire your iPad in favor of a newer, more modern iPad if you need the more current iPadOS versions.

It was released in 2012. Not sure how you can expect a decade old device to remain current? Technology moves forward and time has simply made an iPad 4 obsolete. Shouldn't be a surprise when one considers, the current iPadOS is 15.5. This means your iPad has not been eligible for a major software update for five years now.
