How to backup and RESTORE Home App configuration data?

Had a system of 70+ IOT devices vanish when using Yale Secure app.

There is a debate as to how that could have happened, as both Yale and Apple appear to look at one another.

Hours and days spent w/Apple support and no one can figure out a way to restore the network.

  • Desktop w/Home app working and backed up multiple times a day - nope, can not be used to restore.
  • TWO HomePods, one set as primary hub - nope, can not be used to restore.
  • iPad set as primary hub (another point in time) and while Home and Keychain are using iCloud - nope, can not be used to restore.

So, Apple is essentially saying I need to rebuild the ENTIRE network over from scratch. Best part about that is that Apple does not know how to backup or restore in the even this were to happen yet again.

Why is there no basic 'export settings' style button so one can restore in the event a home network vanishes by accident?

What is the thinking, how can Home app data be restored?

Mac mini, macOS 12.4
