Open protected/password CD on MacBook Air

Hello, I was given a cd burned with some private information, but in order to open it and view what is on the disk I have to insert the password, but when I connect the CD to my MacBook Air I am stuck on which next steps should I take to try an get these files to open and unlock it. Is anyone able to assist me with this issues I need to be able to access these files ASAP.

Thank you

Is the CD protected, or just a file/folder?

If this was made for a Windows user, then maybe they require a special app to be used (perhaps even provided on the CD). Or maybe the CD was only made/meant for a Windows user since sometimes there may be hidden "partitions" when viewed on another OS.

Or maybe the CD is damaged or the file corrupt.

Your best option is to ask the person who provided you with the CD for assistance since there are so many unknown variables here.
