Applecare + Loss and Theft for Airpods?

When did Applecare + Loss and Theft for Airpods begin, please? I purchased mine Sept 2020 and do not recall that being an option, just the Applecare + which I'm now learning does not cover the loss of my airpods.

Hi Niel - thank you for responding. Apple phone support is stating that they do and that they also did at the time of my purchase. I was just trying to clarify as I thought I was purchasing the only AppleCare option at the time. And forgive my ignorance, but I'm only now figuring out that the plan I have does not cover loss :-(


Thank you for responding, I appreciate it. I think I am just out of luck with my AirPods and the money I paid for AppleCare as well.
