Printer Icon is Wrong Icon on My Dock

I have the new iMac 2022 24" that I just took out of the box (yay!). I'm in the process of making it my own and of course installing my printer... luckily everything synced up pretty well. Everything except the icon in the Dock.

When I see the (Users > username > Library > Printers) the icon is CORRECT. When I double-click it, and it opens in the dock, it's a totally different icon, from a printer that may have existed many moons ago.

I've tried saving the app to the dock, same thing happens.

I've tried quitting and removing the app from the dock, restarting the computer, adding the printer back, and/or printing: same thing wrong icon.

I have my old iMac sitting behind me on another table and I literally have the correct icon in both the folders, the app, and the dock.

I'm running Monterey 12.4 and only utilizing ONE printer

(I only own one printer, so there's zero chance of accidentally getting confused with another maching)

It's rather bizarre!

Any insight would be great! It's rather bizarre and having a sparkly new machine I would love everything to (at least start out as) perfect!

thanks! --chris

Wow! Great idea!

This actually fixed it!

In safe mode, I printed a page from the internet. The printer appl automatically opened, and I selected Keep in Dock. The icon was correct upon opening, and after saving in the dock.

I would like to make a note on the link that you provided -- step 3, I actually had to press the Shift Key maybe 2 times? for the notation under the Startup Disk to change to "Start in Safe Mode" (the directions made it sound like you just had to press and hold it once for safe mode to automatically apply, but that didn't do it. I had to press shift to toggle to Safe Mode)

Anyway, I restarted to Normal Mode and the icon is still correct!

Fantastic, thank you!!

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
