how to install a font onto Word

Install the font into your local LIbrary's Font folder, then launch Word 16.62 and it will display your (compatible) font in its Font menu. In the Finder, press shift+cmd+G to open the Go To Folder dialog, copy/paste the following path into that panel, and then return:

~/Library/Fonts

The Fonts folder will open in Finder and you drag/drop the folder containing the individual family fonts, or the single TrueType, or OTF (e.g. OpenType TrueType, or OpenType Postscript) fonts into the Fonts folder.

I happen to have MacTeX 2022 installed. Deep inside it, are public OpenType fonts, and I copied the ebgaramond folder into my local Fonts folder. Those ten OpenType PPostscript fonts show up in Word v16.62 font menu.
