Old Time Capsule model A1409 migration to Big Sur

Hi, I have an old time capsule that I am desperate to migrate photos and music from to my new(ish) macbook running Big Sur. The time capsule light shows solid green but when I try to use migration assistant (with macbook connected to wifi) the time capsule device is not detected.

Is it because the device is too old that it is not detected?

Is there some other way to get the information off the device?

Your help most appreciated. I'm desperate as it has years with of my family photos!

Thank you! Mette

There are lots of issues when you use networked backups.

My recommendation is to get a USB drive of the same size or larger than TC drive.. usually 2TB and do a full Archive via the Airport Utility (if TC doesn't show up in the Mac use iPhone or iPad with iOS version of the airport utility).

Once you have Archived the data.. plug the USB drive directly into the computer and you should be able to access the backup.

If you desperately want to do it via network ring Apple support for help.

Thank you.

I have an old MacBook running 10.6.8 which is able to see my time capsule. However the MacBook doesn't allow me to migrate data directly across to another external drive only to the MacBook itself which doesn't have anywhere near the space it needs.

Obviously can see the time capsule mounted in finder and connected. What are my options?
