iPad 9th generation crashes

Hi

Just bought a new iPad running pad iOS 15.5 and it regularly (every couple of days) and randomly reboots. It seems to freeze and after a couple of seconds reboots.

Any ideas or should I wait for 15.6 or 16 to be released?

Thanks.

As a diagnostic, perform a Factory Restore - but do not restore your data from your backup. The objective of the test is to restore the iPad to its most basic state.

If the iPad remains stable, the issue lies within the backed-up iPad settings.

If the iPad remains unstable after a Factory Restore, without restoring your backup, you would be best advised to seek assistance from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page. Alternatively, if you have access to another device, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad:

While release dates are not pre-announced, release of iPadOS 15.6 is imminently anticipated. iPadOS16.x will not be available until later this year; iOS/iPadOS “major” releases are typically occur around September.

As for your random reboot, have you noticed occurrence when using a specific App or activity?

Performing a forced-restart will often resolve an isolated software issue or system instability:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Hi

I tried 6 time to answer this post yesterday and a combination of crashes and website not behaving failed!!

I should have mentioned that I have carried out resets and a factory restore and backup from an earlier backup.

The crashes are not related to any particular app or activity. There is plenty of storage available so it is not that.

Any ideas or should I contact Apple support?
