My iPhone 12 makes an odd noise every morning

My I12 makes an odd noise every morning at 8:55 Eastern time. It is a two tone noise "DeeDaaDeeDaa..." for about 5 seconds. This morning I had the phone turned off and it still made the noise. Anyone have an idea?

Hi Marc5920B,

You mentioned this is happening when the phone is powered off completely. While it doesn't sound like that would be a notification, we do recommend tapping Settings > Sounds & Haptics and testing the tones there. Do any match?

Also, were you able to verify in the Clock app that you don't have any alarms set?

To look at other possibilities, are you using an Apple charger, or a third-party charger? Also, do you use an Apple Watch? Let us know! Have a good one.

Hi there Marc5920B,

We'll need more information to see how we can help. Are you hearing this sound on your iPhone? When you say you heard the sound when your iPhone was turned off, was it powered off completely or was the screen just locked?

Do you have any alarms set for that time? If you open the Reminders app, are you seeing anything related there? Do you see any sort of notification on the screen of your iPhone when this happens?

Send over these details, and we'll take a closer look from there.

Thanks!

I checked the Settings > Sounds and Haptics. I have very few apps that make sounds. This "dee daa dee daa ..." is not an Apple sound. I am using a genuine Apple charger. I do not have an Apple watch.

I downloaded the ihealth covid test app on 2 July. Found it to be useless so I deleted the app. It was at about that time that the noise would happen every morning.

How could a deleted app make a noise on a powered off phone?

Tonight I'll power off the phone and not have it on the charger overnight.

Thanks for bearing with me on this issue!

Well, I had the phone powered off and it was not connected to the charger. Sure enough, at 8:55 AM (Eastern time) it went through the 10 seconds (I timed it this morning) of "dee daa dee daa ...". What kind of electronic zombie can raise itself up with no power? (I figure even in the "power off" mode the phone still has power to update the clock, calendar, etc.). Any ideas? Any remedies?

Thanks

Marc
