Charging the new MacBook Air M2

Does anyone know if the new MacBook Air M2 can be charged just as well over one of the Thunderbolt ports as over the magsafe connector? I'm not going to be dragging around another cable because Apple decided to regress to magsafe. If it can charge over USB will it fast charge?

The M2 MacBook Air has:

Two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports with support for:

  • Charging
  • DisplayPort
  • Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40Gb/s)
  • USB 4 (up to 40Gb/s)
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10Gb/s)

So, yes – you can charge it via the Thunderbolt/USB-C port. The same applies to other MagSafe3-equipped Macs (I frequently charge my MagSafe3 16" M1 Pro via the USB-C port). It will fast charge that way, too (but note that for fast charging, you need an adapter with at least 67 W, not the 30-35 W adapter that comes with the Mac.
