iPad keyboard either giant (offscreen) or tiny (floating). How to return it within the margins of the screen?

Suddenly, the keyboard on my iPad was way too large. Only 2/3 of the keyboard was visible on screen regardless of whether I turned it landscape or profile. So I used two fingers to pinch it and got a small floating keyboard. Fine. Only when I try to expand it it doesn’t go back to the parameters of staying within the screen size, it returns to giant. So how do I reset the keyboard so it’s normal size again? And yes, I’ve already tried turning off the iPad and turning it back on.

Hi Mamatrauma,

Does this happen in both landscape and portrait mode? Also, is the keyboard still docked at the bottom of the display, or does it seem to be both too large and sort of floating in the middle of the screen?

If you see a small keyboard icon at the bottom right of the keyboard, you can tap and hold it to bring up contextual options. If you see an option to "Dock" or "Merge and Dock" select that, then see if the keyboard returns to its normal size at the bottom of the screen.

If it does not, is all text too large now? For example if you're scrolling through Safari or reading an email, is that text also larger than expected?

Let us know and we'll continue based off those details.

Cheers!
