Synchronize Clips turns screen black in Final Cut Pro

I have a video I want to synchronize to an audio clip in final cut pro. The length of the clips are both approximately 4:50 long. However, when I synchronize the clips by selecting both clips then going to Clip -> Synchronize Clips, the video in my synchronized clip turns black approximately three minutes into the resulting synchronized clip. Why is it doing this, and more importantly, how do I fix it? I've done this several times before and have never seen Final Cut Pro behave this way.
