Troubleshooting CarPlay:

A. Usual Manual:

Read your driver's manual to find out more about syncing this.

B. Try being in Park:

For many, they must have their automobile in park to get this to all pair.

Troubleshooting CarPlay:

If it's not working, then unsync and then sync it once more. You'd do so by forgetting the device, and then adding it back. It may take a few tries. Also, look for firmware updates for your car stereo, if an option.
