WhatsApp/iMessage profile photos do not show up in notifications

I’ve just gotten my Iphone 13 and it’s been amazing, however after a week of using it i’ve noticed that i’m unable to see the profile photos of texts from whatsapp and imessage. I’m looking for a solution but i can’t find one. Thank you in advance
