Mail app disfunction
This is what I get when I open the mail app. And then it terminates itself and this repeats again and again.
And, of course, this won’t let me paste the screen grab.
Fix this!

Force restart iPad - Apple Support
You might try deleting the app and reinstalling it:
Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 12, iOS 13, or iPadOS device or Apple Watch - Apple Support
