How do I change the color of files in a "save" dialog?

When I save a file, I can see all the files/folders in a dialog box greyed out to the point where they are VERY difficult to read. How do I change the color/density/font of these files to make them more legible?

Somewhere in the MacOS there is a number that describes the color of the greyed out files file colors. There ought to be a way to change it.

If I didn't have a reason for reading the file names, I wouldn't be asking.

For that matter, if Apple isn't going to let you read the file names, why display them at all? Seriously. I can understand the need to navigate folders, but why even show file names at all if they're not going to be legible?

It's like printing a book in an unreadable font because the publisher doesn't think anyone will read it!

Hopefully, there's someone out there with more knowledge of the OS who can identify a way to change the font color.
