iPhone charges too fast
Whenever I charge my iPhone SE (2020) using my MacBook Air 2020’s USB-C port, it charges abnormally fast. What is going on?
It doesn’t seem to do this on anything except through the Mac.

What is the battery health of your iPhone, shown in Settings -> Battery -> Battery Health? A failing battery can appear to charge very fast, because it does not have much usable capacity to charge. Especially with a USB-C connection, which can provide 20 volts as opposed to the prior 5 volt standard.
Your profile states you have iOS 16 installed. That is beta-quality software. Does the same thing happen with an officially released iOS 15 installed?
It can’t be abnormal, because the charger is a microcircuit in the phone. Depending on where you start - If you start at zero (and you never should let it get that low) it will charge to 50% in 30 minutes, then 80% in another 5-10 minutes, then slow down to a 5 watt rate, which tapers to zero at 100%. So the last 20% to reach 100% might take an hour more.
What is “abnormally fast”? An iPhone SE should charge to 50% in about 30 minutes using a USB-C power source. It should then slow down and reach full charge in another 60-90 minutes.
It’s usually up by around 3-4% every minute. So it’s almost fully charged after 30 minutes. And it only seems to slow down to 2% after 50.
After calculating, it should theoretically only go up by about 1.5% per minute the first 50% of charging, based off of 50% in a half hour.
Is this abnormal?

Okay, thank you so much!

Yes, this did occur on the stable version of iOS 15 as well.
