German keyboard
How do I set up a second keyboard which has German letters and symbols? I can get it to type but the letters/symbols are not the correct German ones.

Normally you should be able to see an icon in the top right corner of your screen that indicates which keyboard layout is active.

You need to go to system preferences > keyboard > input sources and make sure you have only the right German input source on the list. Newer keyboards with @ printed on the Q key need the input source "German Standard. " Older ones with @ printed on another key need "German." Tell us what kind of keyboard you have.
I believe I have it figured out now. I had the German keyboard added but it would not type the proper German keys. (Both keyboards are magic keyboards). I did not realize I had to press the "globe" button to switch between keyboards. Once I did that, I can use the German keyboard as intended. Thank you
Sure enough-hadn't noticed that! Thanks for your help!
