Calendar - Add entry after the event

Is there a foolproof way to record an event in the Calendar after-the-fact i.e after the event occurred? This doesn’t work and is frustrating because it prevents record keeping. The workaround I use is to add the event (after-the-fact) in Google Calendar and it gets automatically copied to Apple Calendar. Why can’t Apple Calendar (iOS or MacOs or iPadOS) allow this after-the-fact entry?

Thanks

Open the Calendar

Go to the Date in Past

Tap the + Sign

Add the Event and Tap Add. That's it
