How do I recover an unfinished text message draft when I was interrupted before it was sen?

Was this a response to an existing thread, or a new text? If existing, the text should still be in the Messages app under that thread. If new, it generally just disappears. There is no draft folder for Messages. Was it a text that you were interrupted with and you clicked on the notification? If you navigate away from the text you were constructing without just closing messages, then the draft disappears.
