NFC Tags with Apple Watch?

I am using NFC tags with my iphone to run automatisations such as turning lights on & off. It would really useful if the would work with my Apple Watch, as I do not always carry my phone around. Does Apple have plans to turn on this feature in Apple Watch? Thanks for sharing.
