You’ve posted a mix of iPhone details in a Mac community from a link about macOS updates, so I’m not entirely sure which you are asking about here; an iPhone or maybe iPad, or a Mac.
You can ask Microsoft Support, but they generally only supports the three most recent versions of a platform. iOS 12 is older.
Assuming iPhone… If you’re running iOS 12.5.5, your iPhone is too old to run recent or current iOS software, and you will need to replace your iPhone with a newer or new model to gain access to versions past iOS 12, or to iOS 16 arriving later this year.
Any recent iPhone will be a substantial upgrade from iPhone 6 and earlier, too.
