How to turn on keyboard backlight from terminal?

I searched on Internet but couldn't find anything useful for the ARM MacBooks.

Does the Magic Keyboard for iMac have backlighting? I just bought a brand new top of the line M4 iMac with Magic Keyboard. I can't find any backlit keyboard settings. Support said external keyboards do NOT light up. Is this an oversight by Apple or a bug? I find it hard to believe they don't have a backlit keyboard option. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Keyboard back light on M2 MacBook Air This question was originally asked here, Keyboard back light on M2 MacBook Air - Apple Community. I also faced the same issue so thought I'd add my response. In my case, running Ventura on M2 mac, I was able to get this to work by adjusting Keyboard Brightness in `System Settings` > `Keyboard`. While the brightness was still not 0, it had somehow stopped lighting up since upgrade.

Apple provides no Terminal sourced solution that allows you to override the ambient light sensor, or control illuminated keyboard brightness, on, or off settings. There are other interactive means as Apple notes below:
