passwords

is it possible to eliminate passwords totally. i can log into Mac from Windows, but not Apple Mac itself. SPENT hours at it

It’s possible with at least one third party provider. (Yubico) … at least for the Mac user login.


Although entering the hardware token’s PIN is still a requirement. (as it will be in some visions of the “passordless” future)

Passwords are still required. Even on devices with touchID or FaceID (including MS Windows devices that support biometrics) you still have to have a password as the biometric login is used basically as a proxy for the password.


And almost all online accounts like AppleIDs are still tied to a password system as well, with or without some form of 2 factor authentication as well
