iCloud Drive Uploading Thousands of Files - Repeatedly

My Mac has just spent over a week uploading files to iCloud; it found around 500k files to upload - in the end I just let it run and it eventually completed yesterday.

Today, it has started uploading again; as it write its still counting, but is at 300k files. I have added some files to iCloud, but nothing like the quantity it has found.

I can only assume something is dumping files, but how do I find what/where

I've tried sudo brctl log -w –shorten as suggested online, but I don't fully understand what I see, at least I don't see any paths (it looks like paths are being hidden with <private>

Any help on what I can check to find these files...?

The current stable release of Monterey including bug fixes, is macOS 12.5 —I would start there
