If my iPhone doesn't turn on when plugged in or wirelessly charging, what does that mean?
Is it the battery, battery controller, or could it be the motherboard.

Make sure to try to charge it overnight if left off for a long period of time. If that does not work, you will have to get the battery replaced.
We've left it overnight but the phone is unresponsive. The phone should be able to power on without a battery. So would it be the logic board or battery controller.
Incorrect. Your phone CANNOT power on without a battery. Laptops can.
