I mac recycling

I have 2 very old I MAC's I would like to recycle.

Can I bring them into a store without an appointment?

I do not think that I will be able to power them up , or if iI can passwords will be a problem, to remove any data etc however any links are now between 10 and 15 years old therefore well out of date.

I am loathed to simply smash up the monitor to destroy the chips / memories etc, that seems such a waste.

Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Kind regards,

since you don't want to "smash the display" to get to the HDDs, you can go to OWC’s website and find the HDD / SSD install videos to see how to properly open the iMacs without smashing the display. then you can remove the drives before taking them to your local electronics recycler.
