Unsupported camera RAW
Any idea why Sony a7IV (ILCE 7M4) RAW is still unsupported?

In the case of iPhoto? Because it was end-of-lifed more than 7 years ago. It will never be updated for a new camera.
Assuming you're enquiring more generally, no. No one outside of Apple knows what plans they have in this area, if any. however, it may well be added in the newer OS (Ventura) due this autumn. Otherwise you can try use Adobe's free DNG converter or use an app that's faster to add raw support.

I asked as you posted in the iPhoto forum. The truth is adding raw support is not a priority for Apple these days. I wouldn't hold your breath.
Only way we have here is the feedback mechanism:
I have no idea of the effort it would take. As for responding to the customer base, how many folks are spending better than €3,500 on a camera and planning on using a freebie to manage and process the output. This camera has been mentioned on here maybe three or four times that I have seen. Hardly a clamour...
What small effort would it take? Choosing not to respond to their customer base is simply careless, care less.
Is there a way to comment directly to the powers that be? Photos advisors I’ve spoken too express that they have no direct connection to the software community.
No, in current Photos.
This camera was introduced in October, '20, and is popular with professionals and prosumers. I have several avenues to open RAW, but prefer Photos for organisation.
Thanks for the link, and the condescension.
