We are all Apple users, like yourself, so we have no access to your accounts or details to check the reason out for you.
Wondering whether the terminal gave an error message.that would point to the reason payment was declined.

Also wondering which card you have, and whether you activated the card before it's first use.

I see a few possible issues but I need more information from the OP. Once I get more information I will make a more information response.

Are you using the physical card or through Apple Pay?
None of this addresses the question.
