i blocked aome numbers due to their aggressive marketing but meanwhile these numbers come through again and again. the call indicazes the blocked number and when i want to block it again, i find only the option to unblock the number.

Thank You for the almost immediate answer. It is a possible explanation but would not help - nevertheless I assigned the number to a contact now and hope, blocking a contact works better. Many thanks.

Many auto dialers make multiple simultaneous calls to the same number. This can overwhelm the on-device call blocking systems currently in use not only on iPhones, but androids as well.
Contact your carrier, they can block those numbers for you.
