Why do I get "no signal" error messages every 10-20 minutes during certain times of the day, but not all the time, using Apple TV 3rd generation?

Is the Apple TV 3rd generation A1469 model obsolete for viewing? I keep getting "no signal" error messages, sometimes frequently and have to unplug and plug in again. Sometimes unplugging and plugging back in doesn't work either. I tried to fix it by plugging into modem, checking connections, etc., and other suggestions from members. I read some earlier posts about this hardware being obsolete in reference to other connection problems other members suffered. Is this apple Tv 3rd generation A1469 obsolete? If so, where can I recycle it? thanks everyone

I keep getting "no signal" error messages.

That message would indicate a bad HDMI connection. Do try a different cable, and a different port to connect to. It is conceivable that the device has circuitry that isn’t reliable anymore, e.g. if something happened to it, like lightning through the power grid.

Is this apple Tv 3rd generation A1469 obsolete?

In the sense that it will not receive hardware service anymore if anything breaks. “No signal” wouldn’t be typical on a wide scale, though.

If so, where can I recycle it?

Apple Stores will collect devices for recycling, or you can request a mail-out box (in the US). See the “Other devices (Recycle)” selection on Apple Trade In - Apple.

I replaced it with an inexpensive Roku and have no problems any longer. The Roku cost less than a replacement HDMI cable. I think the 3rd generation apple TV was just too old, but it may have been affected by power prob as you suggested. However, Roku cost and quality really can't be beat. I am recycling the hardware, though, and thank you for that tip.
