App appears as purchased but I’ve never downloaded it & cannot locate it on my device
I was in the App Store looking at the list of purchased apps. One appeared titled Dispatch Cycling Flash Art. I have the option to open it from the store but I cannot locate it anywhere on my device.
The app has four reviews - ever. The developer has provided no privacy information. At first when I clicked on the developer’s website, I received at 404 error although now a website appears.
I saw this question was asked previously and the advice given was to login with whichever Apple ID it asks for and that a friend or relative may have downloaded the app. That’s totally impossible because I only have one Apple ID and no friends or family ever are near my phone. No other person has ever used my iPhone. I do not use Wi-Fi unless absolutely necessary for an update and I never use Bluetooth although I found it was turned on the other day but couldn’t have been for long.
If it’s hidden somewhere in my files, I need to locate it and remove it. Also I need to know what it is and if it has somehow infected my phone because I’ve been having a lot of issues. Instructions were provided to the last person with such as issue of how to remove an app from your phone. This will not help me since this app doesn’t appear anywhere that I can see on my local device. This is my only device also. I don’t use a laptop or any other associated iPhone or iOS device.
This may or may not be related but I noticed an extremely high amount of data has been used so I reset it on July 9, 2022. Someone trying to get me to switch carriers said that I could certainly survive on I don’t know one gig which I said sure. Yet then I looked up how much data my phone has used and since it was never reset, the number was so high that I reset it so I could watch. In 18 days it shows that 148 GB of data have been used of which 109 GB are system services. Under system services it shows that back up is 108 GB, software update is 943 MB and general is 507 MB. Under regular cellular data, number one is YouTube was 12.6 GB followed by photos with 11.3 GB. I take very few pictures and actually keep my camera covered, for whatever it’s worth.
I don’t use my phone for much except phone calls which it shows a lifetime of maybe six hours. I play an App Store game: song pop which uses very little data and I listen to YouTube. Nonetheless, not in any way, shape or form can I possibly imagine having used that much data much less in 18 days!
I’ve been extremely concerned about security issues and have seen a lot of “ghosts in the machine”, so to speak. I purchased an Apple phone last summer due to ongoing (literally decades long) security issues with android. I cannot have an android device where I was not somehow relegated to a user underneath a device admin which was always hidden and inaccessible. This was across every new device I purchased be it laptop, desktop, pad or a ridiculous number of new phones in an attempt to escape whatever was making my devices unusable.
I felt secure with iOS for a short time because I had 5G, an excellent signal and absolutely no issues - for about a month. Since that time I’ve opened numerous security tickets so these two issues, related or not, are just the very latest things that I’ve seen.
The main problem I’ve been having up until very recently was simply no signal like right now I have one bar LTE only despite maybe a flash of 5g or if I leave home I’ll see full bars and 5g. Quite often I can’t visit webpages or listen to music or do anything online due to the speed. I have looked at the upload and download speeds and most often upload is zero. It will be so low like .03. I felt like I was being bombarded with information overload which was making it impossible to use my device by sabotage. However, just recently that’s changed and I began to see many of the same hallmarks that I saw with my android issue. I still have signal issues with only one bar and LTE right now but I didn’t feel like the security issues went beyond that and that has remained unresolved. Now somehow I believe the problem is not just connection problems but something in my device.
I don’t have any clue what to possibly do to gain any privacy that would make a difference. I really hoped that getting an iPhone through the AT&T store would solve these issues. I’m really at a loss.
Right now, though, I need to know how to remove this program from my device that I never downloaded. As far as I’m concerned, it most obviously is malware of some kind. I need to know how to remove it and how to fix any collateral damage that may have been caused. I need to know what to do to maybe gain back my privacy or if that’s even possible now under this Apple ID or with this device - which I only have one. Thank you for your consideration and I appreciate any and all responses.
I’m unable to upload a screenshot of the app.
