Terrible static for call recipients only using Airpods.
When using my Airpods for phone calls, the recipients complain they hear terrible static, but my end of the call is always perfectly clear. How do I fix this? ever.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Have you tested without your AirPods? If not, try a call with your iPhone speaker or another set of headphones to see if this is isolated to the AirPods. If so, make sure you're devices are up-to-date and that there is no wireless interference as mentioned in If your AirPods Pro make crackling or static sounds - Apple Support.
If you are using AirPods Pro, they may be included in the repair program here: AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues - Apple Support. Use the information there to check on service options.
