iforgot.apple.com password reset

i was resetting my password through the iforgot.apple.com website that comes off of the apple support website, and because i didnt have access to my phone i had to go through the email verification code. I also had to verify my card details. Is this normal or have i been scammed? to get to iforgot.apple.com I came straight from the apple website when I tried to reset my password.
