My phone stopped automatically backing up around 2 weeks ago

I didn’t realize my iPhone 12 wasn’t backing up until I received a notice in settings. I did a manual backup and received an error but it worked after I rebooted however it won’t auto backup overnight anymore. I haven’t made any changes or deleted old iCloud backups. I have more than 1/2 available iCloud storage remaining. It used to backup over night when my phone is plugged in. My Wi-Fi hasn’t changed. Any idea what happened and how to fix?

iPhone 12, iOS 15

Hi there ALP511,

If your iPhone isn't backing up to iCloud automatically, let's start by making sure it's set up to do so.

Automatically back up with iCloud Backup
Follow these steps to set up iCloud Backup to automatically back up your device each day:
1. Make sure that iCloud Backup is turned on in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
2. Connect your device to a power source.
3. Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network.
4. Make sure that your device's screen is locked.
5. If you get an alert says that you don't have enough iCloud storage space to complete the backup, follow the onscreen steps to buy more storage.

Next, if the issue persists, work through these steps:

If a message says that your last backup couldn't be completed
1. Check that you're connected to Wi-Fi.
2. Ensure that your device is up to date.
3. Try to back up on another Wi-Fi network.
If you still need help, contact Apple Support.
