Can’t log out of iCloud

Over a year ago, I was at a friend’s house and we wanted to watch a movie on my Amazon Prime account, so I logged into my iCloud account on her iPad so I could get am email to log into my Amazon account.

That all worked fine, but they just told me that, for the past year, they’ve been connected to my iCloud account! For instance, they get my son’s daily calendar notifications to empty the litter box!

I am writing this question from their iPad ... I don’t have any Apple products anymore, except for my iCloud account, so I’m not familiar anymore with how they work. I tried to log in to my account through Safari but I get a message saying that it is not supported ???

How can I ge my account off their iPad so they don’t get my reminders?

Thank you!

Signing-in to your AppleID on someone else’s device carries risk. Unless you really know what you’re doing, don’t do it. If you need access to your email, use a web-browser and sign-in (and out) to your email provider’s web portal using the browser.

To resolve your immediate problem, change your AppleID account password:

Having changed your AppleID password - and completed follow-on actions - you can check where you are signed-in:

If you sign-in to the iPad with your own AppleID on someone else’s iPad, all your personal and sensitive data (e.g., Calendars, Passwords etc) becomes available.

When you sign-out, ensure that you do not “save a copy of your data” on the iPad - as this data, if locally saved, will be merged with the AppleID account that is next used to sign-in. If you signed-in to someone else’s iPad, for the safety of your own personal data, you might be best advised to fully erase/reset the iPad:

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

After the iPad has been erased, the owner can set-up the iPad - and restore their own data from their iCloud backup.

In sharing the iPad, also be aware that the owner may not be able to again sign-in with their own AppleID for 90-days. This restriction, intended to prevent account abuse, cannot be bypassed.

I changed my PW from the reset email, but when I go in to Settings, it still shows my name as the owner of this iPad.

The reason I logged in to their computer last year was because we couldn’t access my email from Safari. I agree with you, that would have been the better way, but when we couldn’t access my email through Safari, we all decided it would be okay to log in through the device, and they could change it back to their account afterwards. I guess they haven’t needed to so didn’t see any urgency. When I click on the Mail icon, her email comes up, not mine.

I guess what we need it switch it back to her account in Settings?
